🇮🇹 It. Il territorio dell’Alto Mantovano è interessato dalla compresenza di due grandi sistemi morfologici: l’arco delle colline moreniche e l’alta pianura lombarda. Inseriti in questo contesto troviamo la traccia dei paleoalvei antichi scaricatori del ghiacciaio del lago di Garda. L’intervento si inserisce all’interno del paleoalveo che attraversa il comune di Castiglione delle Stiviere e cerca di collegare due corridoi verdi indipendenti così da completare il quadro ecologico provinciale. Questa traccia attraversa da nord a sud la città, inserendosi così nei tre diversi ambiti: collinare, urbano, agricolo. Il progetto ambisce a ricucire, attraverso un percorso ciclopedonale che si snoda a diverse quote, il corso del paleoalveo; intervenendo presso le cesure, date spesso da barriere infrastrutturali, che ne frammentano la figura, ed enfatizzandone gli argini esistenti, ridisegnandoli laddove non sono più percepibili.
🇬🇧En. The territory of Alto Mantovano is affected by the presence of two remarkable morphological systems: the moraine hills arch and the high plain of Lombardy. Integrated in this landscape we found the traces of ancient riverbeds, called paleochannels, in which the Lake Garda glacier unloaded. The intervention takes place in the paleochannel running through the town of Castiglione delle Stiviere and tries to connect two independent green corridors in order to complete the ecological framework of the province. The riverbed crosses the City from north to south and integrates itself in three different environments : hilly, urban and agricultural. The project aims to mend the course of the paleochannel through a cycling and pedestrian path which winds at different heights. The design approaches and intervene where there are ruptures, often given by infrastructural barriers, which fragment the shape of the riverbed; emphasizing the existing banks and redesigning them where they are no longer perceptible.
